We are Jeff and Elizabeth Owens, missionaries sent out from Harvest Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC, serving with Gospel Fellowship Association Missions (GFA) in the country of Papua New Guinea. We live and serve in the highlands village of Kiari supporting the church planting ministry through evangelism, discipleship, missionary supply trips, and maintenance.
We
answered God's call to share the gospel with the people of Papua New Guinea
separately, but in God's gracious providence we both ended up in the remote
village of Kiari where God molded our separate paths into one. Jeff arrived as a
career missionary in September 2009 to support the existing ministry, with the
initial task of completing the airstrip project to better support the
transportation needs for the remote ministry location. On June 25, 2010 another
task was to drive to the nearest existing airstrip and pick up Elizabeth, the
new short-term teacher for Joy Christian School. Little did either of us know
that she was also his future wife! As we grew to know each other on the
missionary team it became apparent that the Lord was leading us together. We
were married on July 23, 2011 and returned immediately to PNG to oversee the
church ministry in Kiari during our coworkers’ furlough. We returned to
the States in 2013 for our own furlough after the completion of Jeff’s first
full term.
We would like to invite you to spend some time on our website, and learn more about us and our ministry.
